Important message about water usage

(reposted from City of Brentwood website)

STATEMENT OF HARPETH VALLEY UTILITIES DISTRICT
MAY 3, 2010

Presently the Harpeth Valley Utilities District is providing water to its customers in Davidson, Cheatham and Williamson Counties that is safe to use and drink and which meets all the required quality standards.

However our system is operating on generator power and particularly as long as the rivers continue to rise, everyone needs to limit their water usage to essential use only so we can avoid a shortage of treated water.

Essential usage means using water only for drinking, bathing and cooking. It also means no car washing or use of water as a part of cleanup efforts. In addition, please disconnect any outdoor irrigation or watering systems. Also try to limit bathing to short showers.

This request will remain in effect until further notice.
