Meet Gary Slaughter, Author of the Cottonwood Series

Cottonwood Spring was to have been the final novel in Gary Slaughter’s award-winning Cottonwood series. However, to delight of his readers, he has produced yet another critically-acclaimed fifth volume, Cottonwood Summer ’45.

Join us as Gary explains why he decided to write “The Fifth Cottonwood.” In doing so, he will reacquaint us with his alluring assortment of lovable characters based on the colorful people he observed growing up on the World War II home front in Owosso, Michigan.

Once again, Danny and Jase return in starring roles. John Seigenthaler called these young heroes, “This generation’s Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn.” In this latest novel, the precocious pair travel south by train to Nashville where they experience the vibrant wartime city in all its glory. The descriptions of 1945 Nashville will provide native Nashvillians with a nostalgic reminisce of the past.
