Elementary Age Programs
Fall 2012
After School Explorers. Tuesdays, 4:30-5:30 p.m. Grades K-2. Let’s explore the world through books, games, activities, and crafts. A snack will be offered. We will read some books from the Tennessee Volunteer State Awards list and other titles related to seasonal themes. There is a limit of 20 students per session.
Brentwood Bunch Book Club. Every third Friday of the month. 4:30—5:30 p.m. Grades 3-5. We will be reading books from the Tennessee Volunteer State Book Awards list. Our first book club will meet on Friday, September 21st.
We will be discussing I Survived the Sinking of the Titanic, 1912 by Lauren Tarshis who will be talking to our book club via Skype.
Lauren Tarshis is the author of Emma-Jean Lazarus Fell Out of the Tree, winner of the Golden Kite Honor Award for Fiction, as well as the sequel, Emma-Jean Lazarus Fell in Love. Tarshis also wrote the high-interest historical fiction series for young readers, "I Survived," featuring boys who survived some of history's most thrilling and terrifying disasters, including the sinking of the Titanic and the Shark Attacks of 1916. Lauren is the editor of Storyworks Magazine, a literature and language arts magazine for elementary school students. She lives in Connecticut with her family.

Every first Friday of the month. 4:30—6:00 p.m. Ages 8-12. Unleash your creativity! Join us for a fun filled afternoon of building your own designs with Legos®. We will explore different themes from our non-fiction collection so bring your imagination and we’ll provide the Legos®! There is a limit of 20 students per session.
