Pardon Our Construction

We've got an exciting project on the horizon! The Brentwood Library will be installing an automated book handler at the drive-up return station!

Once completed, the new system will process returned materials the instant they enter the building. This streamlined approach to returns will free slots on your account immediately. No more waiting to refill your account with new items! Patrons can even choose to get an emailed confirmation of items returned or take a printed return receipt right on the spot.

The construction project will take place May 24 - June 13. Because the outdoor book return will be unavailable during this time, making after hours returns impossible, library materials borrowed will automatically have an extended loan period. So no worries! Patrons will have extra time to return materials during regular business hours.

Thank you for your patience while we work to improve our library services.

"Little Boxes" Exhibit

Stop by in April and May to see our new art showcase:

Little Boxes: Explorations on a Simple Form

Using mediums such as glass beads and metalwork in silver, brass, and copper, our spotlight artists have taken the lowly box to new heights. Twenty-one boxes range in style from the whimsical to the sacred, exploring shapes and spatial themes.

This fine art craftwork has been created by Nancie Roark, Susan Moody, and David Heustess, all teachers at Vanderbilt University Sarratt Art Studios and the Saratt Youth Art Institute.  All three artists were inspired to create new work by exploring the box form as individual artists, challenging themselves and one another to make new discoveries with the form in their respective mediums.

Stop by any time during our regular hours to see how this trio of artists have created truly beautiful boxes that are themselves art.
Presented by the Friends of the Brentwood Library

Celebrating Arbor Day at the Brentwood Library

Although National Arbor Day is the last Friday in April, Tennessee and Brentwood celebrate the last Friday in March. The Brentwood Library is hosting the city's annual Arbor Day festivities, sponsored by the City of Brentwood Tree Board, on

Saturday, March 28, from 11am - 1 pm

For the kids, we'll have a story time about trees, face painting, and crafts.  Free hot dogs will be available for all ages, and Brentwood residents and property owners will have a last chance to win a tree in our acorn guessing contest. There will also be saplings available for you to take home and plant.

Stop by and help us celebrate Tennessee's trees and the many ways in which trees enhance our community and our lives. Let's celebrate Arbor Day together: Saturday, March 28th!

The Periodical Reading Room Closed Monday March 9

We know how much you love to sit by our fireplace and read the newspaper or the latest issue of your favorite magazine. Or maybe you snuggle up with a good book or your laptop. We're so happy to provide that opportunity for you.

Doing that, however, means that we also need to do periodic maintenance on the fireplace. So we must close the reading room Monday, March 9 for that reason. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience.
