Good news: We can help you clear out your paper clutter, while still keeping track of all your checkouts at the library! Opt in to receive eReceipts, and we'll text or e-mail your checkout receipts to you instead of giving you a paper receipt. Ask a staff member about it at your next checkout!

Bring Your Library Card With You This Friday!

Please remember to bring your library card or keychain card to the library with you on Friday, May 11. On that day, we won't be able to look you up by name to check out library materials or make changes to your account. We should be functioning as usual by Saturday.

New and Improved Media Devices at the Self-Check Stations.

New and Improved Media Devices at the Self-Check Stations. These devices UNLOCK and CHECKOUT your CDs and DVDs at the same time!

Though they look just the same as the old unlockers, these devices were recently replaced and performance has improved a great deal.

After scanning your library card, place locked media items in the device and wait until the entire arrow at the bottom right is green. The Title should appear on your checkout screen and the case will unlock. It is faster and more accurate than before! Please see someone at the circulation desk for a demonstration or for assistance while using the self-check stations.

NEW Volunteer Opportunity: Circulation Ambassador

Are you looking for a volunteer opportunity that allows you to interact with others? Consider being a Circulation Ambassador! These volunteers work at the kiosk in the lobby. They encourage patrons to use the self-check stations and help patrons with challenges they encounter in the self-check process. This job requires a very outgoing personality. If you're interested, please send an e-mail to Jen Wooters, or pick up a volunteer application at the Circulation Desk.

Self Check Out is Here!

The library's self check out system is up and running!

Thank you all for your patience as the new system was installed. There are now 6 stations set up in the lobby. You'll need your library card handy to use it.

You can email yourself a receipt, print one off, or both!

And you no longer have to wait for a staff member to pass books to you. Our new system allows you to walk right through the security gates with checked out items. If they do happen to beep, please check at the Circulation desk. We'll fix the problem and get you on your way!

What to expect from self checkout stations

The library's self checkout stations are coming!

There will be stations in the lobby and at the Circulation Desk. They will:

• Be more convenient
• Speed up your check out
• Improve your privacy
  

You'll need to have your library card with you to use the self checkout stations. There will be a library staff member nearby if you need any help. And if you don't like the machines, there will still be library staff behind the counter to check out your books.

Reminder: No Story Time this Wednesday

The Brentwood Library will be closed on Wednesday morning.

The library will reopen at Noon, but we'll be re-routing foot traffic thru the Meeting Room hallway and Children's Library.

All library services will be available. Thank you for your patience as the lobby improvements continue! Self check out stations will be here soon.

Lobby Changes rescheduled

The lobby changes scheduled for last week have been rescheduled for the near future.

For now, the Art Lending Library will stay in the lobby. We'll keep you posted with any updates!

The Extreme Lobby Makeover is coming!

On Friday, April 30, the Brentwood Library will be closed.

Library staff will be busy doing inventory, and the Extreme Lobby Makeover is scheduled to begin (and hopefully end!) that day.

The circulation desk will get a new counter top, and the risers at the front will be removed.

This summer, there will two self checkout stations on one side of the desk, as shown here. There will always be staff at the desk to assist you, no matter how you choose to check out.

The Art Lending Library will be moved to the Fiction section. We're adding more counter space in the alcove to get ready for self checkout machines this summer!

The Quilters Guild will still be displaying quilts at the library, although some will have to be removed for this brief one day of construction.

Why are we adding self check out stations?

With our newly expanded space, we have more materials and more people using the library than ever before!

We are excited about the self check out machines that will be located in the lobby. The circulation desk will still be available. There will be library staff here to assist you, no matter how you choose to check out materials.

Once the self check out stations are up and running, you won't have to wait for library staff to pass materials to you. And you'll be able to walk in with checked out items and the security gates won't beep!

If the security gates do go off for some reason, please stop at the Circulation Desk. We'll get the problem solved and get you on your way!
