Volunteer Opportunities at the Library




Looking for a place to volunteer? The Library has positions for volunteers age 14 and up. Right now we need a couple of highly reliable volunteers to pull hold requests Saturdays at 4 PM and to shelve in the Children's Department Tuesdays 6-8 PM. We also have a few spots open in the afternoon and evening for shelvers in the Circulation Department. To help or to find out more, fill out an online application on our website today!

Summer Reading Activities for Teens

Starting Thursday, April 30th at Noon

Teens can register online for summer activities. In addition to lots of good books, there will be goodie bags and drawings for prizes. The grand prize is a Samsung Nook!

Distracted Driving - the Science and the Strategies

 
Do you talk on your cell phone while driving? Do you read or send brief text messages during your commute? Has your family ever commented on your inattention to driving while they are in the car with you? If so, this class is for you.

The research says it. The science proves it. Distracted Driving causes over a third of all crashes. Learn about the perils of Distracted Driving wrapped up in a fun, interactive experience. Since April is National Distracted Driving Month, join us to hear the facts and reflect on your own driving behaviors. All drivers 15 and older are welcome.

Do you love books and libraries? Are you interested in giving back to the community? Would you  like to enhance your job or college resume with volunteer work? Need a little time away from the routine where you can also help others? The library is looking for volunteers. How about you?

We are currently looking for enthusiastic, dependable folks to help in our children's department and the administrative office, as well as special event helpers. Whether you're looking for a long-term weekly commitment, a more concentrated multi-day opportunity, an on-call "sub needed" situation, or a one-time event-oriented position, the library needs you.

Free Practice SAT Test with Kaplan

Do you want to get into Harvard? Or maybe you need scholarship money to pay for college? To meet your goals, you will NEED good standardized test scores! Practice makes perfect, so the library partners with Kaplan Test Prep to host practice SAT exam sessions every semester. These practice test sessions are open to students in grades 6 - 12. Teen Books n Crafts Selection for January

If you're in middle school or high school, you're welcome to join us next Thursday for Teen Books n Crafts! This month's book is Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. Read the book before the movie, and make a Zentangle Hand Journal! It's free, but please register in advance so we have enough supplies for everyone.
