Library Construction Update

Visitors to the library can tell that, from the outside, we are nearing completion on our $5 million expansion project.

On the Children’s side, the biggest remaining task is to lay new carpet in the “old” part. This will involve moving all the books and shelves out of the way. The Children’s area will be closed for several days in July to accommodate that move. After that, work on “theming” the entrances, painting murals on the walls and installing stained glass can begin.

On the Adult end of the building, painting and carpeting are underway. That will be followed by installation of ceilings, doors and woodwork. The new Recorded Arts Room is almost finished and the temporary wall enclosing it is coming down.

High-quality computer cabling is being pulled throughout the building to provide you with the best possible on-line services.

The Vance Little Room (former Audio-Visual Room) will have custom-built shelving installed during the month of July. The Little heirs are donating several antiques from the estate to help furnish the room.

We are gearing up for a Grand Re-Opening on Saturday, Sept. 19th. Mark your calendar!
