Ann Patchett is the New York Times bestselling author of State of Wonder, Bel Canto, Run, The Patron Saint of Liars, Taft, The Magician’s Assistant, What Now? and Truth & Beauty. She has won the PEN/Faulkner Award, the Orange Prize, the BookSense Book of the Year, and was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award. These days, the best-selling novelist is also a co-owner of Parnassus Books in Nashville, a bookstore thriving even at a time when e-books are just a click away.
She's not the first writer to own a bookstore, but because of her timing and literary stature, Ann Patchett is a true book advocate for our times. In November 2012 she hosted a conversation with J.K. Rowling at New York's Lincoln Center. In April 2012 she made the 2012 Time 100: The Most Influential People in the World list. She even appeared on The Colbert Report in February 2012. In April 2013, Ann Patchett will be appearing at The Brentwood Library, sharing her love for books as well as her experience as an internationally known author.
