Read20 Selection for December: Tennessee Trailblazers

The Read20 selection for December is Tennessee Trailblazers by Fredrick McKissack and Patricia McKissack.  Tennessee history is made real as Tennessee Trailblazers recounts the lives of four outstanding Tennesseans—pioneer Thomas Sharpe "Big Foot" Spencer, Cherokee leader Nanye-hi, also known as Nancy Ward, singer and pianist Ella Sheppard of the Fisk Jubilee Singers, and statesman Cordell Hull. Drawn from different historical periods and ethnic groups, four interesting lives capture many episodes in Tennessee history.

Have you joined Read20, the First Lady of Tennessee's Book Club for families? Read20 encourages parents to read with their children for 20 minutes a day. The Read20 club features a different title every month, and each week the club offers a fun, book-related project or a suggestion for a fun family activity.  Please visit the First Lady's Read20 page for more information and have fun reading!
