The Brentwood Library & Steinway & Sons Presents:
John Birdsong & Friends Jazz Concert
Jazz concert & Steinway Fundraiser

John Birdsong
Paula James Chavis (vocals)
Joe Davidian (piano)
Josh Hunt (drummer)

John Birdsong and Friends will perform classic jazz standards from “The Great American Songbook”. John Birdsong has been described as one of the most “soulful” upright jazz bass players in the Nashville area. Joe Davidian (piano) has released three albums under his name and tours nationally and internationally with his trio. Josh Hunt (drummer) has toured with Alison Krauss and Union Station, and is a member of the Jerry Douglas band. Paula James Chavis (vocals)  has performed background vocals for Kenny Rogers, in the Super Bowl Halftime for Kids, and in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on CBS.

Library Director Susan Earl says, “A Steinway piano is the best made piano in the world, respected by all professional musicians. Brentwood residents expect and deserve the best. A Steinway here at the library opens up the multiplicity of events that engage all of the community.”

A permanent Steinway piano will enrich quality performances and celebrate the arts within the Brentwood community. Other ideas include piano recitals and musical showcases.

According to Steinway and Sons, the Brentwood Library would be the first library in the Nashville area to own such a piano. Steinway and Sons has helped many middle Tennessee universities and organizations such as the Nashville Jazz Workshop, WO Smith Music School, and The Dance Theatre of TN.
