Free CPR Friends and Family Fridays in Brentwood

CITY OF BRENTWOOD

FIRE AND RESCUE

Recently the Brentwood Fire and Rescue Department has experienced a dramatic increase in the number of people who are surviving cardiac arrests. This is due to three primary factors; new hypothermia protocols, increased public access to Automatic Electronic Defibrillators (AEDs), and initiation of bystander CPR. With the help of citizens, we hope to see that trend continue!
CPR is not difficult or time consuming to learn. Every Friday in the month of February the Brentwood Fire & Rescue Department is offering free classes the public. Each class lasts approximately 2 hours and offers training on infant, child, and adult CPR. For adult CPR, participants will be taught both traditional and “hands only” CPR (no mouth-to-mouth breathing). This class will utilize the American Heart Association (AHA) “Family and Friends” curriculum, therefore no CPR card will be issued. More information regarding this program can be found on the AHA website at www.heart.org.

Only one Friday commitment is required to learn these lifesaving skills. To sign up or for more information regarding times and locations, contact firefighter Scott Barnes at barness@brentwood-tn.org or call 371-2200 ext. 4523 or Robin Forte at forter@brentwood-tn.org (615-371-0170).

So the Brentwood Fire Department is offering FREE CPR classes at the Brentwood Library every Friday in February. Classes are from 5:30 - 8:00 p.m.
