Name the New Automated Material Handler!

We hope you've had a chance to meet the newest member of the library team, the Automated Material Handler (AMH). If not, please stop by and introduce yourself, because we need you to help us give her a name.
We invite you to submit names for our new AMH system. We love her already and want to find the perfect name for her. Either e-mail Heather at lanierh@brentwood-tn.org or leave a name with the front desk staff before August 21st. Circulation Staff will choose the winner by the end of the month, and we will announce it in September’s newsletter.

Just in case you're wondering, here's how she works. The AMH checks in your items immediately as you feed them into the slot. (One item at a time, folks!)
It will check in your items, sort them for library staff’s convenience, and get them routed to the next person who has them on hold.
If you place a book that doesn't belong to our library in slot, it will kindly give it back to you on the spot.
You will receive an email with a detailed report of items you have returned.

Can you still use the manual return? Well, for now, yes. But we’d really like you to give the new one a try.

The Search is On!

Do you love books and libraries? Are you interested in giving back to the community? Would you  like to enhance your job or college resume with volunteer work? Need a little time away from the routine where you can also help others? The library is looking for volunteers. How about you?

We are currently looking for enthusiastic, dependable folks to help in our children's department and the administrative office, as well as special event helpers. Whether you're looking for a long-term weekly commitment, a more concentrated multi-day opportunity, an on-call "sub needed" situation, or a one-time event-oriented position, the library needs you.

To find out how you can help, fill out an online application.

The Periodical Reading Room Closed Monday March 9

We know how much you love to sit by our fireplace and read the newspaper or the latest issue of your favorite magazine. Or maybe you snuggle up with a good book or your laptop. We're so happy to provide that opportunity for you.

Doing that, however, means that we also need to do periodic maintenance on the fireplace. So we must close the reading room Monday, March 9 for that reason. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience.

Library Survey

Be a part of the future Brentwood Library!

We want to know your vision for The Brentwood Library.

Click here to participate in a library survey to be used in our strategic planning process.

In order to better serve Library patrons, your input on a variety of topics is needed. Your responses will help greatly in planning the future of Library services and programs.

The survey is being conducted for the Library, and its partner, private, nonprofit organizations - the Friends of the Brentwood Library and the Brentwood Library Foundation. Survey and planning costs are shared by the Library's Friends and Foundation organizations.

The survey was developed by the independent Library Strategies Consulting Group, based in Saint Paul, Minnesota. All responses are directed to Library Strategies. All individual responses are confidential, and no survey responses will be connected to particular individuals in the aggregate reports provided to the Library and its affiliated partners.

The survey takes 10 to 15 minutes to complete on average. The survey will remain open until the end of the day on Friday, February 20, 2015.

Thank you for taking the time to assist your Library!
