Books, Magazines, and Music at Your Fingertips

In today’s Netflix, Amazon, all you can eat/watch/read for $9.99 world, one huge resource is often overlooked. What resource is that? Well, the library, of course!

If you are looking for a certain eBook, your first stop should be The Brentwood Library through either R.E.A.D.S., 3M, or TumbleBooks. EBooks are digital copies of books that download to an electronic device to read as a book. R.E.A.D.S is a statewide collection of eBooks and audiobooks and 3M is a service the library pays for to provide for our patrons. We are already subscribing, so you don’t have to!

If you are interested in digital audiobooks, books you can listen to on your computer or mobile device, you want to check out R.E.A.D.S. and OneClickDigital. Our reference team is happy to show you how to set up an account or download books. We also have monthly classes on how to download books to your Kindle or iPad. Don’t worry, it may seem confusing, but once you’ve done it a time or two, you’ll be flying through your to-read list at warp speed.

Are you an avid magazine reader? Then zinio is for you. The library subscribes to digital magazines that you can download to your e-reader, smartphone, or computer. We have current issues of favorites such as Better Homes and Gardens, Elle, Esquire, Food Network, Living, US Weekly, and many specialty magazines on subjects from yoga to gluten-free cooking to woodworking.

Is music your thing? With Freegal you can download and stream music. Streaming is unlimited and your library membership entitles you to five free downloads per week. Check out the cool “My Library Top 10” to see what your neighbors are listening to.

The Brentwood Library media rooms stocks many popular TV series, movies, and children’s shows. Downton Abbey, Call the Midwife, True Blood, Homeland, The Walking Dead, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, House of Cards, and Game of Thrones are just a few titles we offer.
