2-Part Workshop
Tuesday, October 6 & 13th
6:30-9:00PM
Presenter: Cindy Martin, NP
Free Event. Registration Required.
Anyone ever tell you that? Fear is a natural part of being human. Learn to use it to your advantage instead of worrying needlessly and making yourself anxious.

Man’s dilemma is that we can’t help our need to control everything. We want assurance that nothing bad is going to happen to us. We get all stressed out when things don’t go our way. Mrs. Martin will show you how to change this stress reaction into a calm and confident way of approaching life.

Mrs. Cindy Martin is a board certified psychiatric nurse practitioner that specializes in the treatment of anxiety disorders.

Register here, call Brigid Day at 615-371-0090 ext. 8510, or e-mail dayb@brentwood-tn.org.

Stepping On: Building Confidence, Reducing Falls

New 7-week class starts Monday, May 4

Join this 7-week workshop where you’ll learn exercises and strategies to help prevent you from falling. Stepping On is a program that has been researched and proven to reduce falls in older people. It consists of a workshop that meets for two hours a week for seven weeks. Workshops are led by a health professional and a peer leader - some who, just like you, is concerned about falls. In addition, local guest experts provide information on exercise, vision, safety, and medications.

Topics include:
*simple and fun balance and strength training
*The role vision plays in keeping your balance
*How medications can contribute to falls
*Ways to keep from falling when out in your community
*What to look for in safe footwear
*How to eliminate fall hazards from your home

Is this workshop for you?
Stepping On is designed specifically for anyone who: is 65 or older; has had a fall; experienced loss of balance or “near falls” in the past year; is fearful of falling; lives at home; does not have dementia.

The fee for this 7-week program is just $20 and includes ankle weights, course materials, and a healthy snack at each class.

Essential Oils have been a well-documented part of history for health, wellness, and beauty. For centuries, people have used them in conjunction with modern medicine and holistic practices. Come learn about essential oils in a fun and informative series focused on the science of essential oils, how they interact with the body on a cellular level, and for what purposes they can help accompany existing practices for health and wellness. While essential oils are not intended to treat or cure any particular condition, they can be an effective supplement to add to your family's existing practices.

Presenter: Lane Rosencrans has been an educator in Williamson County Schools for eleven years and holds a Bachelor's Degree in English and a Master's Degree in Education. Lane has been using essential oils for nearly three years, and these presentations combine her passion for teaching with her desire to educate adults on the many benefits of essential oils.
